The San Marino National Little League All Stars 9s Baseball team captured the 2023 District 17 Championship on Thursday (7/6) night with a 9-5 victory over Pasadena American Little League (PALL). The team marched through the double elimination tournament in the winner’s bracket and won against Pasadena Southwest, PALL and Arcadia American before losing its first game against PALL on 7/5. After falling behind 5-2 in the first inning, the pitching was brilliant. The team also turned two double plays in a spectacular defensive effort in not allowing another run to the opposition. In the 3rd inning, the bats erupted with a 5-run inning in route to a 9-5 victory. The team was led by 12 young talented selfless leaders, who carried and demonstrated the team mantra (#15STRONG) throughout the All-Star season. “We are very proud of the boys in this achievement and watching them grow in front of our eyes,” said Coach Howard Chan.
