On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at approximately 1030 hours, San Marino Police Officers responded to the 800 block of Canterbury Road in San Marino, for a report of a possible residential burglary in progress. A housekeeper at the residence advised the resident, who was off site, that unknown subjects were attempting to break into the home. The unknown suspects damaged the home by turning off the power and cutting a water pipe, while attempting to make entry. The suspects were seen fleeing on foot through the backyard, over a wall, and onto a property on Chaucer Road. A resident in the 700 block of Chaucer Road advised that they saw three males running down their driveway through the bushes. The male subjects were described as all wearing darker clothing and face masks. They were last seen on Chaucer Road, headed toward Lombardy Road. San Marino Police Officers were on scene within minutes of the call, and immediately began checking the area for subjects matching the description. Officers quickly set up a containment and were assisted by outside agencies. A thorough search of several properties met with negative results and no suspects were located. It is believed that the suspects were able to flee the scene and avoid capture prior to officers arrival.

During the investigation on Canterbury Road, it was discovered that the suspects not only cut the power to the residence, but they also appear to have inadvertently cut a water pipe in the wall when they used a handheld reciprocating saw to gain entry. After reviewing surveillance footage from several sources in the area, the suspects appeared to be three males Hispanics, wearing tan colored booney style hats, face masks, green colored long-sleeved t-shirts, tan work pants, dark colored shoes, and carrying black backpacks. The clothing closely resembled that of a landscaper. The suspects appeared to run towards an older model dark colored sports utility vehicle. A surveillance camera likely belonging to the suspects was also recovered during the investigation.

This is an ongoing investigation, and Detectives are actively following leads provided by the victim and the community. The total loss is unknown at this time. If anyone has additional information, they should contact the San Marino Police
