The history of San Marino Optometry as a business is quite unique, certainly to the community.
“I have always wanted to be an optometrist,” said Dr. Toan Nguyen, who, along with his wife, Julie Phan, owns the Huntington Drive family practice.
“I had really bad vision when I was a little boy so whenever I went to the optometrist, I got something new,” said Nguyen, in a display of his relentlessly positive attitude. “It was always a good day for me when I went to the optometrist’s office.”
After attending college in Kansas and, following their move to California, Nguyen and Phan were looking to open an optometrist office. Phan was raised in the San Gabriel Valley and, following a great deal of personal drive-by research, noticed a lack of optometrists in San Marino.
“My wife said that San Marino is a really good town,” Nguyen remembers. Before long, they were making an offer at 2154 Huntington Drive. Since opening their doors, Nguyen and Phan have built their organization on building positive relationships.
“We want to get to know our patients,” Nguyen said. “We want to listen them and deliver detailed, personal care.”
San Marino Optometry has up-to-date digital capability which allows patients to book appointments on-line and receive reminders via email or text message. San Marino Optometry also offers custom fittings for eyewear and contact lenses.
“We try to make everything as easy and convenient as possible,” said Nguyen. “We want to transform visiting the optometrist from something you have to do into something you want to do. When you are here, you are family. We are here to take care of you in a welcoming environment and to make your visit as pleasant as we can.”
San Marino Optometry has a full-service, state-of-the-art showroom. The clinic offers primary eye care, comprehensive eye health exams and other services.
