For the period of Sunday, August 3, 2025 – Saturday, August 9, 2025, the Police Department responded to 651 calls for service. One (1) residential burglary, one (1) commercial burglary, and one (1) attempted burglary occurred during the reporting week.

Overview of Financial Fraud
Financial fraud is the intentional deception or misrepresentation for personal or financial gain, often involving theft, falsified records, or misleading information. It can occur in various forms, including identity theft, investment scams, embezzlement, and fraudulent transactions.
Consequences of Financial Fraud
Financial fraud can result in significant monetary losses, damaged credit, and long-term financial instability for victims. Offenders may face legal prosecution, substantial fines, and imprisonment, along with lasting damage to their reputation.
Signs of Financial Fraud
- Unexplained withdrawals or charges on accounts.
- Missing funds or discrepancies in financial statements.
- Sudden changes in spending patterns or account activity.
- Unauthorized changes to account information or contact details.
- Pressure to act quickly on financial decisions or offers.
- Requests for personal or banking information from unknown sources.
- Invoices or bills for products/services not purchased.
- Duplicate payments or altered checks.
- Missing financial records or documentation.
- Promises of unusually high or guaranteed returns on investments.

Traffic Enforcement
Traffic enforcement is guided by three (3) primary categories:
- Community-generated traffic complaints
- Officer-observed violations
- Analysis of traffic collision data
The Department maintains and regularly updates a comprehensive list of locations identified through traffic complaints and collision data to inform and prioritize enforcement efforts. As part of our traffic collision investigations, we also assess contributing factors that may have played a role in the incident. These factors may include distracted driving, roadway engineering, and environmental conditions.

8:12 AM / Documentation / 600 Block of San Gabriel Boulevard
A report was taken to document property destruction.
12:20 PM / Arson Report / 1300 Block of Virginia Road
Victim reported that an unknown individual used a handheld lighter in an attempt to ignite their security camera and surrounding property. Officers located and identified the suspect. Further investigation revealed that the suspect was in violation of PC §451(d) – Arson of Property. Virquan Leevell Sr. Gulley (D.O.B. 01/06/1993, Lancaster) was arrested and booked at Pasadena City Jail.
1:28 PM / Grand Theft / 2300 Block of Huntington Drive
Officers responded to a theft involving the unlawful removal of various electronic panel fuses. Officers conducted a canvass of the surrounding area to identify potential witnesses and recover any available security camera footage. This investigation remains ongoing.
9:24 PM / Incident Report / Monterey Road / Pasadena Avenue
Officers assisted South Pasadena Police Department in a fatal traffic collision investigation.
11:56 PM / DUI / Huntington Drive / Granda Avenue
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle traveling at slow speeds and colliding multiple times with the center median. Upon arrival, officers observed the vehicle and made several attempts to contact the driver. Once contact was made, the driver exhibited objective signs of intoxication. During the investigation, officers located a minor child seated in the rear of the vehicle in a child safety seat. It was revealed that the driver was in violation of CVC §23152(a) – DUI of Alcohol, PC §273(a) – Child Endangerment, CVC §20002(a) – Hit and Run, and CVC §23103(a) – Reckless Driving. Jane Xiao Li (D.O.B. 06/02/1991, Walnut) was arrested and booked at Pasadena City Jail. The vehicle was towed from the scene, and the minor child was released to custody of their father.

3:12 AM / Incident Report / 2900 Block of Huntington Drive
Officers responded to a report of an individual possibly in possession of a weapon. Upon contact, a search of the individual was conducted, but no weapons were located. A records check revealed the individual had one (1) outstanding warrant from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, for PC §242 – Assault & Battery, for a total amount of $10,000.00. Donta Duashawn Woods-Carter (D.O.B. 07/18/1985, Riverside) was issued an Own Recognizance citation and released in the field without incident.
4:23 AM / Attempted Burglary / 2300 Block of Huntington Drive
Officers responded to a report of an attempted commercial burglary. The suspect attempted to enter the commercial building through a broken glass rear door but was unsuccessful and fled the scene. Officers conducted a canvass of the surrounding area to identify potential witnesses and recover any available security camera footage. This investigation remains ongoing.
4:31 AM / Commercial Burglary / 900 Block of Huntington Drive
Officers responded to a report of a commercial burglary. Three (3) suspects forcibly entered the premises by breaking the front door glass. The suspects ransacked the front counter area before fleeing the scene. All suspects were described as wearing dark clothing and face masks. Officers conducted a canvass of the surrounding area to identify potential witnesses and recover any available security camera footage. This investigation remains ongoing.

A report was taken to document evidence as safekeeping.
10:12 PM / Financial Fraud / 1800 Block of Alpine Drive
Victim reported that an unknown suspect solicited funds under the false pretense of a sweepstakes prize. The suspect promised the victim a substantial monetary return and a vehicle in the near future. Believing the claim to be legitimate, the victim sent a total of $6,000.00.

5:17 PM / Financial Fraud / 1000 Block of Darby Road
Victim reported receiving an email from an unknown company requesting a balance payment of $399.99 for a subscription service. The victim contacted the company via telephone and granted the representative remote access to their personal computer. During the interaction, an unauthorized transfer of $19,000.11 was made from the victim’s bank account. This investigation remains ongoing.

11:48 AM / Traffic Collison / San Marino Avenue / Sherwood Road
Party #1 was traveling South on San Marino Avenue directly behind Party #2. Due to a sudden stop in traffic, Party #1 was unable to stop in time and collided with the rear of Party #2’s vehicle. The primary collision factor was CVC §21703 – Following too Closely.
5:37 AM / Incident Report / 500 Block of La Paz Drive
Victim reported that an unknown suspect approached their driveway and tampered with their motion-activated lighting equipment. The suspect unscrewed the light bulbs attached to the security cameras and fled the scene. The suspect was described as wearing a black beanie, black gloves, a long black coat, black pants, and black shoes. Officers conducted a canvass of the surrounding area to identify potential witnesses and recover any available security camera footage. This investigation remains ongoing.

Party #1 was traveling South on Del Mar Avenue and came to a complete stop at the posted stop sign. Party #2 was bicycling West on Lorain Road and also stopped at the posted stop sign. Party #2 proceeded West and Party #1 failed to yield to oncoming traffic and collided with Party #2. The primary collision factor was CVC §21800 – Failure to Yield.

Victim reported that unknown suspect(s) unlawfully obtained their bank account information and conducted an unauthorized wire transfer in the amount of $6,239.85. This investigation remains ongoing.

Victim reported that unknown suspect(s) unlawfully applied for student loans utilizing the victim’s personal information. This investigation remains ongoing.

Officers responded to a report of a residential burglary. Unknown suspect(s) forced entry by prying open the front door. Officers conducted a canvass of the surrounding area to identify potential witnesses and recover any available security camera footage. This investigation remains ongoing.
10:36 PM / Incident Report / 800 Block of Mission Street
Officers were dispatched to assist South Pasadena Police Department with an individual who was sleeping at the front door of a residence. Upon further investigation, the individual was in violation of HS §11364(a) – Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A records check revealed the individual had one (1) outstanding warrant from Azuza Police Department, for PC §484(a) – Petty Theft, for a total amount of $30,000.00. Sofia Christina Roman (D.O.B. 12/14/1972, Los Angeles) was issued an Own Recognizance citation and released in the field without incident.

1:21 PM / Incident Report / 1000 Block of Huntington Drive
Officers responded to conduct a welfare check on an individual. Upon arrival, officers located the individual and initiated contact. The individual exhibited objective signs consistent with a controlled substance intoxication. A search of the individual was conducted, resulting in the discovery of a bag containing methamphetamine. The individual was in violation of HS §11377(a) – Possession of Methamphetamine. Gamlet Zhorzhevich Barakezyan (D.O.B. 03/14/1987, Los Angeles) was arrested and booked at Pasadena City Jail.
